The March of Dimes is ready to roll out the Red Carpet with a "Premier for Prematurity"! The Myrtle Beach Signature Chefs Auction is a high profile, black-tie optional event featuring the most prominent chefs in the area. It will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel. The KAT (Kidney Awareness Time) Walk is scheduled for September 16th in Goose Creek. The 1.5 mile walk will be on the Crowfield Plantation, benefiting chronic kidney disease education and prevention. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National MS Society is looking for cyclists and volunteers to participate or assist with this year’s annual MS 150 “Breakaway to the Beach Bike Ride,” scheduled for September 15-16 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. They are recruiting more than 2,300 cyclists to pedal through Horry County on a 2-day, 150-mile trek as part of a nationwide effort to fight Multiple Sclerosis. Volunteers are also needed as each route will also offer numerous volunteer opportunities, including helping with rest stops, marking routes, medic stations, and cheering and applauding cyclists. Charleston Running Club is hosting the Charleston 9 Memorial 5k run--an event to raise funds in memory of the 9 brave Charleston Firefighters who perished in the June 18 fire. Kids Cafe a new nonprofit organization serving children, is now open in Conway. The organization offers meals as well as a mentoring and tutor program to area kids. If you'd like to volunteer call 450-2706 Fire departments in Horry and Georgetown Counties are being challenged to aFirehouse Cook-Off, Saturday, September 22, at Myrtle’s Market. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the fire chefs will have two hours to prepare a meal with at least 100 sample servings. At 11:00 a.m., a panel of celebrity judges will determine the winner, and the public will have a chance to sample each fire department’s fare.

Conway Medical Center Auxiliary is holding its Craft Bazaar & Bake Sale Sept 6 & 7 from 7-4pm in the center’s dining rooms 2 and 3. Proceeds support medical scholarships and other outreach programs.
